Meet Coach Eric
Coach Eric Scheingoltz is the founder of High Performance Aquatics and the HPA Swim Academy. From a young age, he developed a deep passion for swimming, coaching, and aquatic education. Born and raised in New York, Coach Eric competed for his high school as well as the West Point Swim Club. He was a 2 time captain, record holder and State qualifier for his school as well as a qualifier for Junior Nationals, and helped his relay team achieve the 10th fastest time in the nation — all while recovering from shoulder surgery.

While training and competing year-round, Coach Eric also discovered a passion for teaching and water safety. In 1988, he earned his lifeguard certification and began teaching swim lessons, starting what would become a lifelong career dedicated to helping swimmers of all ages build confidence, skill, and success in the water.

Coach Eric attended the University of Florida as a walk-on athlete and finished his collegiate career as a volunteer assistant coach for the Florida Gators. Following his time in Gainesville, he returned to New York and began coaching with his former club team, quickly advancing to the role of Head Coach. He later joined the Columbia University Men’s Swimming staff as an assistant coach while earning his Master’s Degree in Biobehavioral Sciences from Columbia University.  In 2008, Coach Eric became the Head Coach at Drew University, where he helped lead the program through a successful resurgence both in and out of the pool. In 2015, Eric and his family relocated from New Jersey to South Florida, where he continued his coaching career with one of the region’s premier USA Swimming club programs as a Head Coach.

Throughout his coaching career, Coach Eric has remained passionate about individualized instruction, continuing to teach private swim lessons, stroke development, Masters swimming, and triathlon training. He is also an American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard Instructor and a Pool & Hot Tub Alliance Certified Pool Operator.

Over the years, Coach Eric has provided private aquatic instruction to families throughout the Tri-State area of NY and NJ as well as South Florida. He brings a high-level of coaching, professionalism, and a passion for water safety directly to his clients’.
